The following is a reformatted version of a superb posting by mathew@mantis.co.uk to the alt.atheism Usenet conference. It gives a 'Beginners Guide' to the construction of logical argument and presents a list of logical fallacies. I strongly urge anyone who is involved in regular debate, on-line or in person, to examine this document. It will allow them to avoid logical pitfalls in their own arguments, and help them to identify when such illogic is used in argument against them. Chris Davis 1996 |
Splendid news! |
After all this time I have at last managed to contact the excellent Mathew. He pointed out that, as he already had a Web version of his Logical Arguments paper, there wasn't much point in mine. I entirely agree, and so have now unlinked my pages from this site. To continue onward to Mathew's own site, which is much more comprehensive, click this. 7/2004 |
